The Garibaldi at Squamish resort will allow Squamish to build on the success and international attention of 2010 and plan for an even brighter future. It will provide a world-class, all-season destination to build on Squamish’s reputation as “The Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada.”

This resort provides the community with a sustainable way to develop its natural and economic assets to create long-term growth
and quality jobs, close to home. Garibaldi at Squamish will create sustained economic activity to benefit local residents and businesses over its 15-year phased-in construction period and operations. The resort will create over 13,000 direct jobs and over 5,000 indirect jobs during construction. Another 2,400 direct jobs will be created during operations.

Garibaldi at Squamish speaks to the desire of the District of Squamish to attract major investment, diversification and substantial new economic opportunities to the community. Community economic benefits:
Garibaldi at Squamish will bring a major
financial injection to the community and our province. It will generate an estimated $722 million in direct construction employment income and another $2 billion in spending on supplies.
A significant financial return to taxpayers:
Garibaldi at Squamish will generate financial returns for governments at all levels to support valuable public services and amenities. This will include:
- Over $40 million in commercial property tax revenue and over $14 million in residential property tax revenue will be generated for local government
- Over $250 million in sales tax revenue and another $130 million in income tax revenue will be generated for the federal and provincial governments
- Over $45 million in property transfer tax revenue will be generated for the provincial government
- Hotel room taxes will generate another $9 million annual in provincial revenue
