No. The entire Garibaldi at Squamish resort will be contained within an 8,000-acre controlled recreation area (CRA). Unlike Whistler, GAS will be a master-planned community.

Depending on whether the resort is annexed by the District of Squamish or remains as part of the Squamish Lillooet Regional District, its development will be controlled by applicable zoning and development bylaws.  Additionally, the results of the Environmental Assessment will set guidelines that will govern how the resort is developed.
