What is the status of the Garibaldi at Squamish proposal?
The proposal entered the provincial Environmental Assessment (EA) process in 2007. The EA process reviews major projects to assess their potential impacts. This process helps ensure that major projects such as Garibaldi at Squamish meet the goals of environmental, economic and social sustainability. The assessment process is also ensures that the issues and concerns of the public, First Nations, interested stakeholders and government agencies are considered and addressed.
At the conclusion of this process, the BC Environmental Assessment Office will report its findings and recommendations. If approved, Garibaldi at Squamish will then be allowed to seek any other statutory authorizations needed to proceed.
