What will be the resort’s impact on local businesses?
During the 15-year phased-in construction period, local businesses should benefit greatly by the 13,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs created.
Some $722 million in direct construction employment income will be flowing through the community as a result of the project. The socio-economic study revealed that the project will generate over $2 billion in spending on supplies from local, regional and provincial suppliers.
Once the resort is operational, it will have some commercial operations, but visitors will be patronizing downtown Squamish businesses for many goods and services not located within the resort village.
