Will there be logging to make way for the resort?
No. Some 80 percent of the 4,900- hectare site will remain untouched. A significant portion of the ski run area is in naturally open bowls where no clearing will be required.
There will be very little clearing in sub-alpine and alpine areas as ski runs will be designed to travel between the sparse stands of trees in these areas. The vast majority of clearing will be in areas that have already been logged in the past. We have developed a vegetation management plan that we will follow to reduce impacts, including tree protection sensitive ecosystem protection and re-vegetation (Volume 7, Section 24 of our submission to the Environmental Assessment Office).
